Report on Australian film & new media industries tabled in Federal Parliament
This week a Parliamentary Committee report titled Reel to Unreal: Future opportunities for Australia’s film, animation, special effects and electronic games industries was tabled in Parliament. Included in a range of recommendations across the film, television and new media sectors, was an extension of the Division 10BA tax write-off to the games industry and for state and federal governments to jointly establish a ‘creative incubator’ for the creative industries. The report noted that the main incentives for games development came from Victoria and Queensland. The report can be accessed on the Australian Parliament website: http://www.aph.gov.au/house/committee/cita/film/report.htm
