Film Ballarat Hepburn Website Goes Live!
Victoria's First Regional Film Attraction Website - Film Ballarat Hepburn
On 29th May 2004 Regional Victoria’s first film attraction website was launched at the St Kilda Film Festival. The website is an initiative of the City of Ballarat and Hepburn Shire Council to attract film makers to one of Australia’s fastest growing film locations.
Already home to films such as Ned Kelly, My Brother Jack, Mad Max, The Man from Snowy River, Salem’s Lot, Dalkeith, Love’s Brother and many more, the region is putting itself on the map both domestically and internationally.
The website provides compelling reasons why film makers and TV producers should take a good look at the Ballarat and Hepburn area online - with its locations gallery, financial incentives, run down on local infrastructure and film industry links to post production facilities, distributors, industry news and events.
The region offers a rich variety of natural and rural areas, as well as heritage and urban streetscapes, and close proximity to Melbourne’s airport for national and international filmmakers.
Senator Judith Troeth speaking at the launch said The proximity of Ballarat and Hepburn to Melbourne offers enormous opportunities to the film and television industries. At a little over an hour from the capital city, the region is endowed with unique, adaptable settings, with ready-access to major metropolitan services, including transport, pre and post production facilities and media outlets.
The website provides an invaluable starting point to ‘scout’ the region and is supported by dedicated film liaison officers who can save producers time and money by putting them in contact with the right people, services and equipment to keep every film shoot on schedule. Necessary permissions can also be streamlined as film makers are provided with local information, resources and guidance.
The range of financial incentives on offer means filming in regional Victoria has never been more attractive, with industry incentives including taxation rebates, the Production Investment Attraction Fund and the Regional Victoria Film locations Assistance Fund.
The launch was attended by Senator Judith Troeth, Senator for Victoria, the Mayors of both Hepburn Shire and the City of Ballarat, Film Victoria delegates, film location scouts, producers and other key industry figures.
