Writer, producer and director teams are invited to submit feature film projects for participation in SPARK, a national script development program offered by the AFC in association with the AFTRS.

Up to eight creative teams will be selected for this three-stage process which begins with a week-long residential script workshop to be held late August 2005. The intensive hothouse environment features one-to-one sessions with leading local and international advisers from Europe and the US.

Two of SPARK’s 2004 projects, Footy Legends (w: Anh Doh, Suzanne Do, Khoa Do, p: Megan McMurchy, d: Khoa Do) and Noise (w/d: Matthew Saville, p: Trevor Blainey) are now on the road to production and have secured commitments from the FFC.

“SPARK gave our team a great opportunity to accelerate the development of Footy Legends at a critical stage, in a creative environment that was both challenging and supportive.”
Footy Legends producer Megan McMurchy

“I felt privileged to be given the opportunity to engage in thoughtful discussion about my script with practitioners whose work I so greatly admired.”
Noise writer/director Matthew Saville

Participation in the 2005 workshop will be followed by script development funding, provision of script feedback on completion of next draft and marketing assistance to access the local and international marketplace.

Only teams with a well-developed screenplay will be eligible for consideration.
